Why would I write a book?
I mean who in their right mind would write a book in 2020?
Well the first issue is I started thinking about this two years ago, I started working on it and even registered my ISBN early in 2019, but I just underestimated how long it would take me to get 20 years of knowledge around Wills and Estate Planning out of my head and into a sensible written format.
A book seemed easier
A book seemed easier, easier for you that is. The easiest thing for me would have been an online course.
The problem with most Wills matters is that people think it will be a relatively simple process so they make an appointment to come and see me expecting to have the matter mostly resolved at that appointment. Then I ask them a bunch of difficult questions that they weren’t anticipating, like how will your family pay for your funeral? They go away and work on those questions and come back, thinking oh good, I am so glad that is done. The problem is that what they get is probably more questions.
The whole reason I started down this road was to create a way that you could move through this at your own speed. I am assuming that you aren’t going to sit down and do all of this in one hit (though you could, I guess, if you were that keen). I felt like the easiest way for you to stop and start was with a book, a spiral bound book, that you could simply put down and come back to later. Additionally you could throw the book into your bag to read while you are waiting for someone or something else.
An online course would be easier for me, no printing, no dealing with Australia Post, but I felt like a book was probably easier for you.
I need an Estate Plan
If you are thinking that you need an Estate Plan then you could either book a free 15 minute phone call with me to chat about what is involved, or you could fill out the form to get your matter rolling. If you click the Book Janis button you will get both of those options.
