CRN for your child

Last week we looked at creating an email account for your child. This week we are going to record the CRN. Unfortunately this number always pops up at the worst time, when you are frantically trying to do something, and yes it can pop up as an adult.

If you haven’t set up your child’s email account yet then you can check out how to do that, and why, in this longer post from a fortnight ago.

Today’s bite-sized admin

My bite-sized #lifeadmin for today is to just find your child’s CRN and email it to their account. Unfortunately, these things can become relevant when your child is an adult, my husband had trouble with his paid paternal leave because of something that was on his account from when he was a kid. The government does assign numbers to us so it will help your child to have this number, and if you email it from your account it means that you can go back and find it easily by searching your own account.

There you go, you have taken care of today’s bite-sized life admin.

Word of warning

Please, please, please use a great and secure password on your child’s email account as well as your own. This doesn’t necessarily have to be a random string of letters and numbers, this blog post (below) steps you through the process of choosing a secure password that you will remember. But do not put a weak password on an email account that you are then going to put all of your child’s details into.

(Don’t worry they won’t all be about kids, this month’s Estate Planning theme is about kids but next month’s will be more generic).
